Robinson Bradshaw Adds Four Associate Attorneys

Robinson Bradshaw, one of the Carolinas’ leading corporate and commercial law firms, has announced that four attorneys – Fitz E. Barringer, J. Thomas Clarkson, Amanda Rae Pickens and Phillip C. Ross – have joined the firm as associates.

Barringer earned his law degree from University of North Carolina School of Law, where he ranked second in his class and was included on the Dean’s List each semester. He served as the online content editor of North Carolina Law Review, was a Graduate Honor Court member and a quarter-finalist in the Kilpatrick Stockton 1L Mock Trial Competition. During law school, he worked as a judicial intern for Justice Robert H. Edmonds Jr. on the North Carolina Supreme Court.

After law school, Barringer clerked for the Honorable Judge Thomas D. Schroeder on the Middle District of North Carolina. Barringer earned his undergraduate degree from University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, where he graduated with honors and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Clarkson earned his law degree from University of Georgia School of Law, where he graduated second in his class. Clarkson joins the firm following a clerkship with Judge Gerald Bard Tjoflat on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. He was a recipient of the Law School Association Scholarship and a member of the Georgia Law Review for two years, serving as the senior managing editor in his third year. During law school, Clarkson was a member of the Appellate Litigation Clinic, where he drafted and signed on to briefs submitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and the Board of Immigration Appeals. Clarkson also served as a teaching assistant, a Dean’s ambassador and a Student Bar Association Senator. During law school, he interned for Judge John J. Goger of the Fulton County Superior Court and Justice David Nahmias of the Supreme Court of Georgia.

Clarkson earned his undergraduate degree from University of Notre Dame.

Pickens earned her law degree from University of South Carolina School of Law, where she ranked third in her class and was a member of Order of the Coif. She served as the symposium editor of the South Carolina Law Review and as a torts and property tutor with the academic assistance program. She also won numerous CALI awards for Property I, Torts I, Criminal Law, Civil Procedure I, Constitutional Law II and Appellate Advocacy. She was a member of Women in Law, the Student Bar Association, John Belton O’Neall American Inn of Courts, a peer mentor and served as president of DRI: Voice of the Defensive Bar.

Pickens earned her undergraduate degree from Roanoke College, where she graduated magna cum laude.

Ross earned his law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law, graduating third in his class. He was the recipient of the A.J. Fletcher Scholarship, which is the school’s premier scholarship, and placed second in the James F. Hodge Award for Outstanding Law Review submission. He was a staff member and Notes & Comments editor on the Law Review, and a member of the moot court and trial bar teams.

Ross earned his undergraduate degree from East Tennessee State University, where he graduated with a 4.0 cumulative GPA.
