Robert W. Allen Elected to the North Carolina Bar Association Board of Governors

Robert W. Allen has been elected to the North Carolina Bar Association Board of Governors. Allen’s three-year term began June 21.

The Board of Governors serves as governing body for the NCBA and oversees all aspects of NCBA and NCBA Foundation governance.

Allen practices in the area of commercial real estate, focusing on acquisitions, title examinations and certifications, sales, leasing, financing, foreclosures, and residential development and sales.

His experience includes the representation of clients in the acquisition and sales of small businesses; drafting and negotiating contracts, leases and other associated agreements; organizing business entities; prosecuting foreclosure actions; and handling real estate litigation. He also represents public and private companies in mergers and acquisitions involving real estate and has conducted numerous commercial and residential real estate closings.

Allen is a board certified specialist in real property law: business, commercial, industrial and residential transactions. He currently serves on the real property specialization committee of the state bar. He previously served in numerous roles, including chair, vice-chair and treasurer, of the NCBA real property section. He has also served as chair of the real property section of the Mecklenburg County Bar, and is a member of the real property, trust and estate law section of the American Bar Association.

Allen earned his law degree from the University of North Carolina where he served as president of Phi Delta Phi. He received his Bachelor of Arts also from the University of North Carolina.
