Ms. Griggs has worked with many clients on matters involving planning for families with closely held businesses, including ownership succession issues, the use of family limited partnerships, limited liability companies and trusts and other techniques to transfer wealth at significantly reduced transfer tax costs. She provides estate planning and related tax counsel to clients involved in specialized situations such as premarital planning, lottery winnings, special needs beneficiaries and the sports and entertainment fields.
Ms. Griggs also advises and serves as consultant to other law firms on substantive estate planning issues, complex estate administration and probate issues and related tax matters. Her experience includes successful audits of estate tax returns involving complex transfers and unique assets, special counsel in trust and estate litigation and the formation and operation of charities, including private foundations.
Ms. Griggs participates in the development of the firm’s highly regarded forms manual and document assembly system for estate and trust planning. Ms. Griggs also works with groups interested in reforming the tax system and state laws affecting estate planning and probate.
Ms. Griggs writes and lectures regularly on estate and trust planning and related tax topics.
