North Carolina Lawyers Weekly has named Robinson Bradshaw litigator Julian H. Wright Jr. as a Leader in the Law. Honorees are selected for accomplishments including outstanding contributions to the practice of law in North Carolina, significant achievements through the practice of law, leadership in improving the justice system, and acting as role models and mentors.

Wright recently served for seven years on the North Carolina Equal Access to Justice Commission, beginning with appointment to the Commission by the state’s chief justice in 2015. The chief justice nominated Julian in 2019 as the inaugural vice chair of the Commission, and Wright served in that leadership position until his term on the Commission expired in 2022.

As part of his service on the Commission, Wright worked with the chief justice to create the North Carolina Faith and Justice Alliance in 2020, and he still co-chairs the steering committee. This partnership seeks to connect pastors and faith leaders across the state with leaders in Legal Aid organizations and other pro bono lawyers to identify needs among the state’s population in poverty and connect them with pro bono legal services and resources that already exist in their communities.

In addition, Wright recently completed a three-year term on the North Carolina Bar Association’s board of governors, and he formerly chaired the NCBA’s professionalism committee and labor and employment section council. Wright is also an engaged community leader with service to many organizations including Camp Grier, North Carolinians for Redistricting Reform, MeckMIN, GenerationNation, Freedom School Partners and the North Carolina Coalition of Charter Schools.

At Robinson Bradshaw, Wright practices in the areas of employment law, business litigation, and government and internal investigations. He provides counseling and litigation guidance to employers and executives around the country, and he regularly litigates in North Carolina’s Business Court, in state courts around the country and extensively in the federal court system. Wright is a certified Superior Court mediator, and he maintains an active pro bono practice, including in the area of criminal post-conviction work. He earned both a law degree and a Master of Divinity degree from Vanderbilt University, and received his bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from Davidson College.
